attorney chip evans

Attorney Chip EvansChip Evans is the owner and lead lawyer at The Evans Law Firm. Chip brings to the firm more than 15 years of experience as a trial lawyer, representing plaintiffs in car accident cases, personal injury claims, and other matters.

Early in his career, Chip worked in medical malpractice defense, but he soon discovered that his true calling was protecting the rights of individuals and helping families find justice. “Insurance companies, hospitals, and other big businesses have teams of attorneys that excel at protecting their interests. Injury and accident victims deserve that same kind of dedication from their lawyer – they need an advocate who’s not intimidated by corporate attorneys.” In 1998, Chip joined his father-in-law, Guy Fisher, to form Fisher & Evans, L.L.P. In 2008, Fisher & Evans, L.L.P. added Jeff Edwards and Sally Metcalfe to become Evans Edwards, L.L.P. In 2011, Chip founded The Evans Law Firm.

For Chip, family is important. His family ties helped him launch his legal career, and as a married father of two, he can relate to his clients who are seeking justice for their loved ones. He knows that when a car accident injures a father, a mother, a child – sometimes generations within a single family – the effects can be devastating. Families may be left with long-term medical costs, not to mention the emotional anguish of seeing a loved one suffer or die due to someone else’s carelessness.

CLIENT STORY

Chip represented the family of a teenager who was seriously injured in an automobile accident. Various parties were competing for what they believed to be their share of available insurance policy proceeds. Chip was able to secure a full policy limits settlement and place the bulk of the settlement funds into a trust to pay for the young man’s future college education.

“I ran into the young man about 10 years after I had represented his family — in the airport, of all places. We recognized each other and began talking. He told me that he had recently finished up his master’s degree and was headed to Europe. He was able to take a few months off and do this because his education was funded solely by the settlement we achieved. I love knowing that what could have been a very negative situation turned into something positive.”

Chip grew up in Dallas and attended Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, as an undergraduate. Chip graduated from Southwestern in 1994 with a degree in political science and next attended law school at St. Mary’s University School of Law, in San Antonio, Texas, graduating in 1997.

The Texas Chip knew as a young boy has changed a lot in recent years. In Austin, where his office is located, serious and fatal car crashes have become regular occurrences. Many of these crashes are caused by drivers who are intoxicated, speeding, or driving recklessly, and many people have fallen victim to these irresponsible drivers.

Chip hopes that – in the same way he helped a young man be able to attend college – he may be able to help injured people and their families achieve positive outcomes. His extensive knowledge of insurance law, his concern for families, and relentless dedication to justice have helped numerous Texans put a painful chapter in their lives behind them.
